The procedure
Facial fractures must be reduced quickly to avoid functional after-effects: double vision, bite problems, nasal obstruction. Treatment combines reduction, plate fixation and radiological check.
The approaches are chosen to stay hidden: inside the mouth, just below the lashes or in natural creases.
The protocol, step by step.
- Step 1
Emergency
CT scan of the facial skeleton and eye assessment.
- Step 2
Reduction
Anatomical repositioning of the bone fragments.
- Step 3
Fixation
Fixation with titanium plates and screws.
- Step 4
Rehabilitation
Follow-up of the bite, movement and breathing.
