The procedure

An extraction is indicated for a decayed, fractured, very loose or infected tooth, or one with no functional value, as well as in certain orthodontic and pre-prosthetic treatment plans.

The procedure is performed atraumatically to preserve the jaw bone: the bony wall is kept, and the socket can be grafted when an implant is planned later.

The protocol, step by step.

  1. Step 1

    Assessment

X-ray, assessment of the roots and of any infection.

  2. Step 2

    Extraction

  3. Step 3

    Preservation

Grafting of the socket if an implant is planned.

  4. Step 4

    Follow-up

Check of healing and next steps of the treatment plan.
