The procedure

Expression lines tell a story, but they should not hide your vitality. A specialist in maxillofacial surgery and facial rejuvenation, Dr Yousefpour combines detailed command of muscle anatomy with a refined aesthetic sense to relax your features while preserving your expressions.

Botulinum toxin acts on the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. Treatment is tailored to your anatomy, your expressions and your goals, aiming for a rested face rather than a frozen one.

The protocol, step by step.

  1. Step 1

    Personalised analysis of facial dynamics

Complete morphological assessment and precise mapping of muscle contractions by Dr Yousefpour.

  2. Step 2

    A high-precision injection session

Ultra-fine micro-needles, with injection points and doses adapted to each area, in 15 to 20 minutes.

  3. Step 3

    Review and follow-up

The first effects usually appear after 3 to 5 days, with the optimal result at around 14 days. A review assesses the result and any adjustment.

A surgical and artistic approach to facial rejuvenation

Botulinum toxin injection is not just about softening wrinkles: it is dynamic micro-precision work. As a maxillofacial surgeon, Dr Yousefpour applies three-dimensional knowledge of the muscle layers and tension vectors of the face.

  • Preserving expressiveness: tailored treatment that respects the balance of the eyes and smile.

  • Subtle results: the aim is a rested, refreshed face without a “frozen look”.

  • Prevention and correction: softening lines caused by muscle contraction, with a preventive approach suited to each patient.

Key areas treated

The areas considered and the indication for each injection are assessed individually at consultation.

  • Forehead lines: smoothing dynamic horizontal lines while preserving natural movement.

  • Frown lines (glabella): softening a worried or stern look.

  • Crow’s feet (around the eyes): fading the fine lateral lines.

  • Bunny lines: softening the creases on the nose when smiling.

  • Gummy smile: modulating the muscle action of the upper lip.

  • Jawline and masseters: slimming the face contour and treating bruxism (teeth grinding), depending on the indication.

  • Marionette lines and dimpled chin: targeted relaxation of the muscles involved to soften the chin and the corners of the mouth.

At what age should Botox start?

There is no universal age. In some younger patients, from 25 to 30, a low-dose approach (“Baby Botox”) may be considered to limit the formation of expression lines. In more mature patients, treatment aims to relax the muscles responsible for established wrinkles. The indication depends on clinical examination, not on age alone.

Will I lose my natural expressions?

The aim is to keep a natural expression. Precise dosing and targeting of the muscle fibres responsible for unwanted tension make this balance possible. The result depends on your anatomy and your response to treatment.

Is the injection painful?

Treatment is usually only mildly painful. Very fine needles and gentle techniques support comfort and usually allow an immediate return to daily activities, without heavy anaesthesia, while following the post-injection precautions.

How long do the effects last?

Results last on average 4 to 6 months. With regular, suitable sessions, the muscle response can change and allow some patients to space out their sessions. The repeat schedule is individualised.

What precautions apply immediately after treatment?

For 4 to 6 hours after treatment, do not massage the injected areas and avoid lying down or hanging your head down. Avoid intense exercise, sauna and steam room for 24 hours. Follow the personalised instructions given by Dr Yousefpour.

Nature and goals of treatment

Botulinum toxin is a purified protein that temporarily relaxes the targeted muscles by blocking nerve-to-muscle transmission. Treatment aims to soften dynamic wrinkles and harmonise the features. The effects are temporary, on average 4 to 6 months, and reversible.

The procedure is performed personally by Dr Afshin Yousefpour after an in-depth clinical and morphological analysis of facial expressions and anatomy.

Side effects and possible complications

Although commonly performed, this treatment remains a medical procedure and carries risks. They are explained before the injection.

  • Common and usually mild: localised redness, slight swelling or bruising at the injection points, fading within a few days; mild, passing headache in the first 24 to 48 hours; a temporary feeling of tightness or heaviness.

  • Rare and temporary effects from local spread of the product: ptosis (temporary drooping of the upper eyelid or brow, usually recovering on its own within a few weeks), slight facial asymmetry assessed at the review around day 15, dry or watery eyes after treatment around the eyes.

  • Exceptional complications: allergic reaction or hypersensitivity to the product.

Contraindications and treatments to report

Before any injection, tell Dr Yousefpour about your health and all your treatments. Some situations rule out the procedure or need a specific assessment.

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding.

  • A known neuromuscular disease, such as myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome.

  • Active infection or skin inflammation on the areas to be injected.

  • Recent use of certain antibiotics, such as aminoglycosides, or high-dose anticoagulant treatment: to be reported for medical assessment. Do not stop any treatment without the agreement of the prescribing doctor.
